![]() Reinstalled just as easily as the front sight did, with an original Type II. I just gently tapped it out (left to right) with that same little brass hammer with the same little piece of paper towel to help deaden the blows, it came out slick as pie. ![]() I also had to put a new rear sight on the carbine because the Type III was busted (no adjustment). I purchased an M1 Carbine front sight removal tool, which removed the sight slicker than whatever. Then you just place the punch above the junction of the sight and receiver and hit it. I would recommend spraying a penetrating oil on it first (PB Blaster or AeroKroil) and placing 3 layers of masking tape on the left side. I purchased a NPM carbine a couple of years ago that someone ground off the protective ears on. Remove left to right (when looking from the rear).
